Course credits and duration of study

Article 10:

The number of credits required to complete each of the educational programs is as follows:

Associate degrees: between 68 to 72 credits.

Bachelor’s degrees (continuing) excluding technical and engineering fields: 130 to 135 credits.

Bachelor’s degrees (continuing) in technical and engineering fields: 130 to 140 credits.

Bachelor’s degrees (non-continuing): 67 to 70 credits.

Master’s degrees (continuing): 172 to 182 credits.

Article 11:

Each student can select a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 credits per academic semester.

Clause 1:

In the final academic semester, the student is exempt from the requirement of selecting a minimum of 12 credits.

Clause 2:

If the student has only one course remaining for graduation, with the approval of the university and the relevant instructor, they may take the exam for that course during the semester through a referral to the instructor.

Clause 3:

If a student achieves a cumulative average of at least 17 in a semester, they may, with the university's approval, select up to 24 credits in the following semester.
Clause 4:

In cases where a student has a maximum of 24 credits remaining for graduation, even if they are on probation, they may, with the university's approval, select all remaining credits in one semester.

Clause 5:

The maximum number of elective credits during the summer session is 6 credits.

Prerequisite courses

Article 12:

Those admitted to the national university entrance examination for associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in all fields of study, whose raw score in the entrance exam in one or more subjects, as determined by the accepting university's educational council, is less than the required threshold, are obliged to take the courses specified by that university as remedial courses or (university prerequisites) in addition to the courses listed in the approved program based on their field requirements.

Clause 1:

Determining the type of course, number of credits, detailed materials, method of presentation, and schedule for university prerequisite courses is the responsibility of the accepting university’s educational council.

Clause 2:

The Organization for Educational Testing and Training is required to provide the universities concerned with the admission results, including the raw scores of the admitted students in each subject, after announcing the results of the entrance exam.

Clause 3:

The provision and implementation of university prerequisite courses in universities are, in every regard, like university courses and subject to higher education regulations.

The grades for these courses are recorded in the student’s transcript and calculated in the semester-end GPA as well as the overall GPA of the student, and they also influence the student’s probation status, pass, or fail results.

Clause 4:

The maximum duration of study for students who have completed at least 8 credits of university prerequisite courses is extended by one academic semester.

Duration of the course

Article 13:

The maximum allowed duration of study in associate and non-continuing bachelor’s programs is 3 years and in continuing bachelor’s programs is 6 years. If a student fails to complete the course credits within the maximum allowed duration, they will be expelled from the corresponding university.
