According to the Public Relations Department of Qom University of Technology, Dr. Jafar Ghanbari, President of Qom University of Technology, in an interview with ISNA News Agency, referring to the existential philosophy of the Academic Jihad, considered this institution to be a bridge between the university and industry in the field of technology and the relationship between the university and society in the field of humanities, and stated: The inherent mission of the Academic Jihad is to create effective connections between the university and industry and help transform scientific and research capacities into practical achievements.
Referring to the history of the activities of the Academic Jihad in the industrial and technological fields, he added: The products and achievements of this institution even go back to the years of the imposed war; when the urgent needs of the country, which were outside the time-consuming administrative procedures, were referred to the Academic Jihad, and this institution was a pioneer in responding to these needs.
The President of Qom University of Technology continued: In recent wars and crises, there are also ongoing needs in the fields of defense and infrastructure, in which the Academic Jihad can play a prominent and effective role. In my opinion, the tangible introduction of the successful performance of this institution in generating wealth and solving the country's problems can create significant motivation among students and researchers.
Ghanbari clarified: When the achievements of the academic struggle and the results of scientific and technological activities are exposed to students, this will naturally increase their motivation to effectively use their education and scientific capacities.
Referring to the academic struggle innovation ecosystem, he said: This ecosystem can have a more complete cycle for converting science into wealth, and if its capacities and achievements are properly introduced and explained, it can be one of the important motivating factors for students.
The president of Qom University of Technology stated that the structure of the Academic Jihad is currently governmental and governmental, and stated: This institution has been very successful wherever there has been serious follow-up by individuals or parts of the government, but it seems that if the Academic Jihad changes its role from a direct custodian of projects to an accelerator, taking into account the shortcomings of government systems and modeling successful processes of transforming science into wealth, it can be more successful.
He added: By creating a technology and innovation ecosystem, the Academic Jihad can focus on transferring experience, facilitating regulations, and helping the independence of research teams, instead of directly implementing activities. The movement of these teams and units towards financial independence and the creation of private companies can lead to better performance due to mission orientation, greater agility, and distance from government bureaucracy.
Referring to the examples in the country's knowledge-based business ecosystem, Ghanbari noted: We have seen examples of this model in accelerators and risk-taking research funds, and academic jihad can also become a platform for the growth and development of these activities by preserving intellectual property and transferring the majority of activities to agile teams.
He considered one of the most brilliant models presented by academic jihad to be the activities of the late Dr. Kazemi Ashtiani at the Royan Research Institute and the field of stem cells, and said: He and his team of colleagues targeted one of the country's problems with their struggle, sincerity, and sense of duty, and today the Royan Research Institute has a lot to say in the scientific arena of the world.
The president of Qom University of Technology continued: The personality of the late Kazemi Ashtiani, who was committed to the ethics and spirit of jihad, was also praised by the Supreme Leader, and in order to strengthen the role of academic jihad, we should focus more on introducing these models to the younger generation and students. In a situation where young people are exposed to a vast amount of social media content and consumption patterns, our duty to introduce successful and hopeful role models is doubled.
Ghanbari emphasized: Successful and attractive examples such as the late Kazemi Ashtiani, who demonstrated a combination of value and progress through his jihadi and scientific work, should be introduced more. Introducing these role models, along with explaining the inherent mission of the academic jihad, can be attractive to students and play an effective role in realizing the goals of hope.
He described the field of infertility treatment and stem cell-related research as one of the most important strengths of the academic jihad and said: Activities in this field have opened new horizons for the treatment of intractable and some incurable diseases, and the benefits of these achievements reach the people directly.
