The governor of Qom announced that, in response to the persistent follow-up by the President of Qom University and considering the province's leadership in housing construction projects, a thousand residential units will be built for professors at universities in Qom province.
Dr. Seyed Mohammad Aghamir, the governor of Qom, stated in a meeting with the heads of universities in the province on November 8, held at the Ideology Hall of Qom University, that both housing and cultural discussions are essential needs of life—one for the body and the other for the spirit. Regarding housing, the housing jihad, alongside the national housing movement, has commenced, and we seek to provide as much accommodation as possible without regard to provincial quotas, aiming for a surplus in supply that leads to decreased demand, thereby reducing housing prices and even rental costs. This will also allow those individuals who are unable to purchase homes to benefit from housing options.
He added: Housing construction has been planned in several aspects, one of which is the housing for professors, and it has been decided and communicated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development that land be allocated for residential homes with yards, one or two stories, for at least a thousand professors. God willing, banks will also cooperate with us in this matter.
Aghamir stated: In a meeting focused on market regulation and the lack of cooperation from some banks in entering the production sector and providing services to citizens, criticisms were directed at the banks for not providing the necessary loans and services to residents. It was decided that warnings would be issued to the non-compliant banks, compelling them to allocate fifty percent of their capital in the province.
He added: In efforts for housing construction and the national movement, we strive to achieve a good ranking in the country; however, more importantly, we aim to solve the people's problems. Most inquiries from the public regarding housing signify that resolving this issue is a significant step forward for the province. To realize these goals, we have started with the housing for university professors, which is currently located in two sections for a thousand units, and we hope, with the support of banks and the efforts of the governorate, to achieve this important objective since housing is one of our primary priorities in the province.
The governor of Qom expressed: Another important topic is culture, as Qom is the city of the Ahlulbayt, and thus, we must aim for a city that meets the dignity appropriate for Hazrat Masoumeh (peace be upon her).
He referred to the aspects of the city's appearance and stated: All cultural authorities in the province should engage in this regard, and a plan has been approved at the 19th of Dey headquarters requiring that the entire city and its pillars be adorned with images of martyrs and quotes from those esteemed martyrs.
Aghamir noted: Another issue raised, based on requests from the cultural commission of the government, is that there should be no commercial advertisements within twenty-five kilometers of Qom, and all advertisements should be cultural and religious. Companies wishing to advertise must also portray cultural content because we are striving to shape the city's appearance according to the dignity of Qom and its sacred places.
The governor of Qom explained: Regarding the centrality of the shrine, it has been requested that it correspond with cultural topics and institutions, including the Feyzieh seminary, which is historically linked with the revolution and must be part of this cultural puzzle. The mayor has been asked to implement changes that reflect the dignity of these places and centers.
He stated: Cultural work is a long journey, and the most critical element in cultural programs is the youth. If we wish for culture to develop, it must be deeply rooted within the hearts of young people, which will in turn reduce our concerns.
The governor of Qom elaborated: We intend to establish a continuous cultural program for young people from preschool through university, meaning from the time they enter school until university graduation. This will ensure that cultural disciplines remain interconnected.
