According to the Public Relations Office of Qom University of Technology, the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on joint scientific, educational, research, and technological cooperation between Qom University of Technology and the Qom Regional Water Company was held on June 22, 2026. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Jafar Ghanbari, President of Qom University of Technology, and Mohammad Ahmadi Jebeli, Managing Director of the Qom Regional Water Company
Dr. Jafar Ghanbari, President of Qom University of Technology, highlighted the University's scientific and research achievements and capacities, stating: "Over the past few years, Qom University of Technology has taken significant steps toward achieving its scientific, research, and technological objectives. The University has consistently sought to utilize its specialized expertise to address the challenges and needs of Qom Province."
He further noted that the University's primary mission is centered on two key strategic areas, adding: "Enhancing productivity across the province and investigating environmental pollutants while developing practical solutions to mitigate related challenges are among the University's most important missions. To support these objectives, several specialized strategic councils have also been established."
Emphasizing the importance of strengthening collaboration between the University and provincial executive organizations, Dr. Ghanbari stated: "Combining the scientific and research capabilities of universities with the practical experience of executive agencies can pave the way for effective and sustainable solutions to the Province's strategic challenges, particularly in the areas of water resources and environmental protection."
During the meeting, Mohammad Ahmadi Jebeli, Managing Director of the Qom Regional Water Company, presented a report on the current status of the Province's water resources. He also outlined the mechanisms for supplying water to consumers and discussed the major challenges associated with water resources management.
Referring to the necessity of greater synergy among the organizations responsible for water management, he stated: "One of the major challenges is the fragmented approach and insufficient coordination among the relevant institutions, which can reduce the effectiveness of the measures undertaken."
The Managing Director of the Qom Regional Water Company emphasized the vital role of universities in addressing the country's strategic challenges, adding: "To overcome the current situation, we need broader collaboration with academic and research institutions. Issues and challenges related to the water sector should be formulated, documented, and analyzed through scientific, research, and technological projects. The outcomes of these activities can significantly enhance the effectiveness of policy formulation and decision-making processes within the relevant authorities."
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Qom University of Technology and the Qom Regional Water Company with the aim of expanding cooperation in scientific, educational, research, and technological fields.
