According to the Public Relations Office of Qom University of Technology, a meeting entitled **"Mission-Oriented University and Productivity"** was held at Qom University of Technology with the participation of Dr. Ruhollah Ebrahimi, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Qom Province, senior officials from provincial executive organizations, the Managing Director of the Qom Industrial Towns Company, and a number of faculty members.
During the meeting, participants discussed strategies for achieving the missions assigned to Qom University of Technology in the areas of enhancing industrial productivity across the Province and reducing environmental pollutants. They also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the University and provincial executive organizations to address the Province's priority challenges.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Jafar Ghanbari, President of Qom University of Technology, highlighted the University's major achievements during **2025 (1404 in the Iranian calendar)**. He noted that the University had secured **first place in the National Technological Sports Olympiad** among **115 public universities** across the country and had also been recognized by the Research Affairs Office of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology as a **University Commended for Excellence in University–Industry and Community Partnership Contracts**, describing these accomplishments as among the University's most significant achievements.

Referring to the official approval of Qom University of Technology's mission by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Governor's Office of Qom Province, Dr. Ghanbari stated: "Qom University of Technology is the first university in the Province whose institutional mission has been formally approved by the relevant authorities. In line with the new policy of the Ministry of Science, the University is pursuing a transition toward a mission-oriented and problem-solving model of higher education."
He identified the University's two principal missions as **enhancing productivity in the Province's industries to promote economic growth** and **controlling and reducing sources of environmental pollution**, emphasizing the University's responsibility to play an active role in addressing the Province's real-world challenges.
Later in the meeting, Eng. Vahid Ashtiani, Managing Director of the Qom Industrial Towns Company, stressed the importance of energy productivity under the country's current conditions. He described efficient energy management and conservation as essential requirements for maintaining industrial production and ensuring the sustainability of the industrial sector. He also emphasized the need for the active participation and cooperation of all sectors of society in overcoming the challenges facing the energy sector.

Dr. Ruhollah Ebrahimi, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Qom Province, also highlighted the mission-oriented approach adopted by Qom University of Technology, describing it as a valuable step toward aligning the University's scientific capabilities with the Province's real needs.
He stated: "In addition to its distinguished cultural and religious status, Qom should become a national model in the fields of economic development, industry, technology, and environmental sustainability. Universities have a pivotal role to play in achieving this vision by contributing their scientific expertise and innovative capacity to address the Province's strategic challenges."

He noted that **energy productivity** and **the reduction of environmental pollution** had been identified as the Province's two main priorities for **2025 and 2026. He emphasized the need to develop practical, applied, and problem-oriented projects in collaboration with universities, stating: "Harnessing the expertise of faculty members, researchers, and students to develop implementable solutions can play a significant role in addressing the Province's major challenges."
The Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs also highlighted the importance of the knowledge-based economy, identifying the development of **artificial intelligence** and the **digital economy** as strategic priorities for the Province's future. He further announced plans to expand the necessary infrastructure, including the establishment of a **GPU Farm (Graphics Processing Unit Farm)** project in Qom.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Qom University of Technology and the Province's executive organizations through collaborative research projects, problem-oriented graduate theses, and applied research initiatives. The objective is to maximize the University's scientific and research capacities in promoting productivity, supporting sustainable development, and addressing the Province's priority challenges.
