According to the public relations office of Qom University of Technology, in the latest research and introduction of top scientists worldwide by Stanford University's database, two faculty members of Qom University of Technology have been ranked among the top 2 percent of scientists in the world. Based on the report from Stanford University and Elsevier publications, Dr. Mostafa Talebi from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Hadi Ziyani from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Qom University of Technology are listed among the top 2 percent of scientists worldwide in 2023. In recent years, several researchers at Stanford University have created a database and calculated a metric called the "Composite Citation Index" using data from the Scopus database. In our country, this list is known as the "Stanford University List" and has attracted the attention of the media and institutions. The goal of this database is to provide a set of standardized citation metrics for assessing the citation impact of researchers in various scientific fields globally. The Composite Citation Index, introduced in 2016, is a combination of several separate citation metrics based on the number of citations received by scientists' papers and their authorship positions (co-authorship patterns) along with the h-index. This research, based on data from the Scopus citation database, has classified scientists into five primary subject areas, 22 secondary subject areas, and 176 fields based on standardized citation metrics. The criterion for researchers to enter the ranking process is the publication of at least five articles, and a total of nearly eight million scientists were reviewed and evaluated, with over one hundred thousand of the top individuals along with the top two percent in each subject area included in the final list. According to the latest update of this database, which covers data from 1996 to 2021, the list encompasses highly cited authors based on the Composite Citation Index and identifies them as part of the top two percent of cited researchers. These names are presented at two levels, with one method solely calculating citations for the year 2021, where 1,870 researchers from a total of 200,409 international researchers with institutional affiliation in Iran have been recognized, including the two faculty members from Qom University of Technology: Dr. Mostafa Talebi from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Hadi Ziyani from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, who are listed among the top 2 percent of scientists in the world in 2023. We congratulate the Islamic scholarly community of Iran, especially the academic community of Qom University of Technology, on this remarkable success.
