From Resistance Economy to the Production of Laboratory Equipment at Qom University of Technology

According to the public relations office of the university: Given the oppressive sanctions imposed by the enemies of the noble Iranian nation, particularly against the academic sector, we have transformed sanctions and threats into opportunities. In line with the resistance economy and countering sanctions, the president of Qom University of Technology announced the production of laboratory equipment and certain industrial devices necessary for the country, thanks to the efforts of faculty and students.
Dr. Rezaei Nour, the president of Qom University of Technology, referred to the enemies' oppressive sanctions, stating: With the unity and solidarity of the people, the foresight of the Supreme Leader (may his shadow last long), and the intelligence of the academic community, we can turn the threats and sanctions into opportunities and showcase the independence and freedom of Islamic Iran even more to our adversaries.
He added: In accordance with the directives of the Supreme Leader regarding the resistance economy and solving domestic issues, good steps have been taken at Qom University of Technology. The elimination of paper, the publication of electronic newsletters, and the establishment of an electronic service desk, which recently commenced operations with the presence of the governor of Qom, are among these initiatives.
Dr. Rezaei Nour announced the initial measures to attract international students to this university and stated: Since the holy city of Qom can be considered a global city, with many seminarians residing here from various countries, there is a great opportunity to attract foreign students, which will not only contribute to the internationalization of the university but also support the country's economy.
He emphasized that the research projects of faculty and students should address the needs of the country and clarified: Dr. Mohammad Sadigh Mohibi, a faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Qom University of Technology, has successfully developed a flat biaxial tensile testing machine with numerical control and geometric capacity for the first time in the country.
Dr. Rezaei Nour said: This machine is used in the automotive, sheet metal, polymer, textile, leather, and biomedical engineering industries. It is also applicable for measuring and mapping the yield surface of anisotropic materials, understanding the behavior of plastic anisotropy, plotting forming limit diagrams (FLD), exploring the dependency of formability of various sheets based on strain paths, and discerning the mechanical properties and behaviors of different shells (fabric, leather, bio-textiles, etc.).
The president of Qom University of Technology added about the features of this device: It is capable of conducting uniaxial and biaxial tests and tensile/tensile, tensile/compressive, and compressive/compressive loadings, with a specially designed structure to achieve maximum rigidity and eliminate bending moments; easy access to adjustable parts; convenient access to jaws for specimen clamping and unclamping; and easy access to moving components during maintenance processes are among its distinctive features.
He further noted: The loading program for various tests and the storage of data will be accomplished through a user panel equipped with HMI and specialized interface software.
Additionally, Dr. Rezaei Nour mentioned that alongside the construction of this device, with the efforts of faculty and students, part of the laboratory and workshop equipment is being produced in-house, including a wind tunnel and fatigue testing equipment.
Dr. Rezaei Nour discussed the activation of free and virtual training programs, stating: Considering that Qom University of Technology is an entrepreneurial university, it must prepare the environment for attracting students to the job market. In this regard, by enhancing students' skills through conducting necessary training courses, it aims to prepare them for entry into the industries of the province and the country. Besides skill development, this will also generate significant revenue for the university.
The president of Qom University of Technology announced the initial steps and implementation of study projects regarding the university's wastewater treatment and added: We are currently presenting and reviewing various proposals for physical, chemical, and biological processes to execute the best plan with minimal cost and time.
