The Director of Cultural Affairs at Qom University of Technology, Hojjatoleslam Valmosallameen Tabatabai, stated in an interview with the university's Public Relations Department:
The cultural and social management of the university is responsible for promoting Islamic values and enhancing effective cultural and social skills and beliefs among the academic community. The cultural and social aspects of the university, alongside scientific and research activities, complement the comprehensive programs of the Sacred Islamic Republic, seeking simultaneous spiritual and material advancement.
He added that the Cultural and Social Management of Qom University of Technology strives to create a cultural and social growth environment for all university sectors (students, faculty, and staff) with the help of its educated scholars. Trusting in committed and caring student body will lead to cultural excellence.
Furthermore, the Cultural and Social Manager of the university detailed the activities for the year 1398 (2019) mentioning that this management is one of the subdivisions of the Student and Cultural Deputy and has the following branches, which conducted over 280 cultural, social, and scientific activities last year:
1. Student Basij and Al-Tah Group: Support for activities and organizing sessions to follow up on resolutions.
2. Student organizations, Islamic Society of Students, and Islamic Student Association under the supervision of the Secretariat of the Committee for Oversight of Islamic Organizations at the university: Addressing organization requests and following up on resolutions until they are carried out.
3. Scientific associations including (Industrial Science Association, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Energy, Computer, Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, IEEE, Entrepreneurship): We have witnessed a 40% growth and activation of scientific associations compared to the previous year. In 1398 (2019), scientific associations planned and held more than 130 types of activities for students, and we will provide detailed and illustrated reports as a suitable opportunity.
4. Cultural associations: Including 8 active cultural associations at the university (Naseem Omid Cultural and Art Association, Health Helpers Association, Quran and Ahlulbayt Association, Mahdi Supporters Association, Nikaan Charitable Association (Blue Path), Young Designers Cultural and Art Association, Red Crescent Cultural Association, Toranj Cultural and Art Association):
Thanks to God, the cultural associations at the university have conducted over 50 types of activities for students. It is worth noting that the Quran and Mahdi Supporters associations operate under the office of the university's leadership representative.
5. University publications:
At our university, over 15 active publications consistently publish their newsletters supported by the Cultural Management under the oversight of the university's publications committee.
These include (Goftegoon Haq publication, Forsat publication, Nafed publication, Royesh publication, Raased publication, Sahar publication, Nim Negah publication, Hijab publication, Shekar Panir publication, Salamat publication, Algorithm publication, Polytech publication, Makaan publication, Samim publication, Physics and Technology publication).
6. Student camps:
To promote the growth and development of students and prevent social harm, this management's camp section has organized 25 scientific, cultural, and pilgrimage camps in cooperation with various student entities.
7. Free thought sessions:
Several free thought sessions have been conducted in collaboration with students from political organizations and the esteemed religious studies management, including "From A to Z Takeover," "Consequences of Singleton Life," "Superior Hijab," and others.
8. Cultural programs in dormitories:
Numerous cultural and artistic programs have been organized in student dormitories, such as sending students to the water park and self-sacrifice, gatherings on Sundays, Yalda night, celebrations on 22 Bahman, and Quranic Tuesdays with the efforts of the university's Quran and Ahlulbayt Association. Holding Mahdi sessions on Wednesdays at the holy Jamkaran Mosque, where last year 50 batches of students were dispatched to the holy Jamkaran Mosque.
9. Extracurricular programs:
Various programs such as providing food offerings at the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA), distributing 1500 iftar meals, welcoming new students, conducting Ashura pilgrimage, organizing book fairs, charity bazaars, open podiums, collecting donations for flood victims in the country, conducting religious gatherings during Muharram and Fatimiyya, commemorating 13 Aban, 9 Dey, 19 Dey, the Decade of Insight, memorializing the martyrdom of General Soleimani, and celebrating the blessed decade of Fajr with 20 activities conducted during these periods.
10. University cultural council:
In 1398 (2019), 23 meetings of the cultural council were held, with nearly 150 requests reviewed.
11. Oversight committee on organizations: In 1398 (2019), 18 meetings were held and over 40 requests from student organizations were reviewed.
