Based on the criteria of the Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC), Qom University of Technology ranks between 11 and 15 among the industrial universities of the country, alongside the universities of Oil Industry, Kermanshah University of Technology, and Hamedan University of Technology.
According to the university's public relations report, this database evaluates and ranks various universities in the country annually based on six criteria: education, research, technology and innovation, internationalization, economic impact, and infrastructure, which are also approved and recognized by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Last year, Qom University of Technology was ranked between 21 and 30 among the industrial universities of the country. However, thanks to the plans implemented to improve the university's ranking, it achieved significant growth in the 1399 ranking, securing a place between 11 and 15 on the list. The table below shows the university's rankings in the aforementioned criteria over the years, reflecting the positive performance of the university in most areas.
Year | Overall Rank | Education | Research | Technology and Innovation | Internationalization | Economic Impact | Facilities and Resources |
1395 | 21 | 16 | 21 | --- | 12 | 12 | 20 |
1396 | 21-29 | 17 | 25 | --- | 6 | 14 | 24 |
1397 | 21-29 | 17 | 24 | --- | 6 | 14 | 27 |
1398 | 21-32 | 17 | 27 | --- | 6 | 14 | 17 |
1399 | 11-15 | 17 | 14 | 9 | 10 | 22 | 10 |
The ranking of the Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC) started in 1392, during which only data from 9 industrial universities were extracted, and since 1395, Qom University of Technology has been included in this ranking. To extract the rankings of the universities, data from the three years leading up to two years prior to the year stated in the above table is taken into account. For instance, the ranking for 1399 is based on data from 1395-1397. Moreover, in previous years, the criterion for technology and innovation was considered a subset of the research criterion, but due to its significance, the technology and innovation section has been treated as an independent criterion in the rankings since last year. As evident, the growth in the university's ranking in research and facilities, as well as achieving a suitable rank in technology and internationalization, has contributed to the overall improvement in the university's rank.
It is important to note that in recent years, the absolute overall ranking of universities has not been disclosed, and universities are ranked in five different categories, with Qom University of Technology being placed in the third category. Given the implemented plans and the statistics of research activities, improvement of infrastructure, the establishment of revenue-generating conditions, and obtaining licenses to attract international students, achieving a rank between 6 and 10 among industrial universities and moving to the second category in the coming years is not out of expectation.
