The Performance of the Green Space Unit of the University in 2019 and Arbor Week

News has arrived that spring has come and greenery has burst forth           If the consumption of the gardener is met, let it be flowers and wine

Do not complain in sorrow that in the path of seeking         Those who do not exert themselves will not reach comfort

Thanks to the efforts of the Administrative Affairs Management and the Green Space Unit of the university, significant actions have been taken in 2019 to improve, maintain, and increase the per capita green space at Qom University of Technology.

According to the university's public relations; in this regard, early this year, due to the poor quality of the soil in the university's gardens, excavation and soil replacement operations began with the invitation and presence of green space experts from the municipality in 4 stages. Part of this implementation process  involves planting trees of various species along Shahid Zeyn Al-Din Street  and other public areas of the university, aiming to create a visual landscape and foster a lively environment along the roads, with daily shaping and pruning carried out, the main parts are detailed as follows:

1- Establishment of new gardens covering approximately 550 square meters, including:

In front of the laboratories (creating a garden as a border around the entire barren land behind the cafeteria),in front of the entrance to the prayer hall,around the railings leading to the entrances of the educational classrooms, in front of the cafeteria and the dining hall, and  the new entrance to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

3- Restoration and increase of plant species in the existing gardens around the educational, administrative, and public areas of the university.

4- Purchase and planting of over 20 types of seasonal plants compatible with the climatic environment of the holy city of Qom (stars, marigolds, barberry, paper flowers, Moroccan flowers, blue jasmine, various roses,cabbage, violets, and night-scented stock, etc.)

6- Two stages of spraying in spring andautumn.

7- Purchase of 3 types of fertilizers (animal, green, compost) and application of fertilization in autumn and winter (6 trucks + 1 truck of sand).

8- Cleaning 20 tree trunks in the vicinity of the educational classrooms from climbing plants.

9- Altering the plant composition and planting new species to increase species diversity such as (mouse tail, paper flower, jasmine, trumpet vine, barberry, etc.)

10- Planting over 300 saplings (cedar, eucalyptus, pomegranate, bitter olive, mulberry, etc.) and removing dead trees from the university grounds.

11- Planting climbing species instead of grass to save water consumption.

12- Propagation of several species through cuttings and seed planting such as Dutch jasmine, Akuba, night-scented stock, chrysanthemum, pomergrani, cactus, etc.

13- Pruning of trees and shrubs,  cleaning and removing suckers, mowing and edging 
With the actions taken, compared to last year, the plant diversity of the university's green space has seen a 200% increase, and the development of the green space has achieved an 80% growth.
