According to the university's public relations office, an animal repellent device for electricity substations, based on ultrasonic waves and light waves equipped with infrared and microwave sensors, was invented by Dr. Ehsan Heydarian Foroshani, a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department at Qom University of Technology. Dr. Heydarian commented on this invention, stating that many of the errors occurring in power transmission substations and also in ground electrical distribution substations are due to the intrusion of animals, making it essential to prevent their entry into the substations as much as possible. He added that the animal repellent device for electricity substations, based on ultrasonic waves and light waves equipped with infrared and microwave sensors, prevents errors caused by animal intrusion into the electrical substations by generating sound waves at frequencies above the hearing range of the targeted animals and creating light flashes through motion detection sensors. It is important to note that the device does not harm any creatures, which also makes it preferable. The university faculty member stated that the design and patent registration of this device were carried out by him in the context of an internal research project. It is noteworthy that the research team is currently working on developing a laboratory prototype of this device, and it is expected that with the support of the country's electrical industry, this device will be commercialized as soon as possible.
