According to the university's public relations report: A meeting of the faculty members was held with the presence of Dr. Khoshnavaisan, the president of Qom University of Technology, and Engineer Shafiei, the assistant for monitoring and managing the environmental protection of the province, to plan initial strategies for aligning this university with biotechnology activities. This meeting took place on Thursday, 94/8/6, at Qom University of Technology.
During this meeting, topics such as the treatment of urban and industrial wastewater, desalination of saline and brackish water, management of urban and industrial waste, urban and industrial pollution reduction, as well as the management of water resources and wetlands, especially the salt lake, and compatibility of industrial activities with the environment were discussed.
Faculty members also referred to ongoing projects and future activities of the university aimed at protecting the environment. These activities include using solar energy, employing specialized desalination systems, CHP power plants, addressing pollution in the agricultural sector, and raising environmental awareness within the industry.
At the end, Engineer Shafiei, while appreciating the innovative and creative ideas of the university officials, provided explanations regarding the main environmental challenges in the province and it was agreed that through holding joint meetings and forming specialized groups from faculty members of Qom University of Technology and environmental authorities, necessary actions would be taken to address the environmental issues in industrial sectors.
