The first National Public Sports Olympiad for students was held.

According to the public relations of the university: The first and largest national sports olympiad for universities and higher education institutions across the country was held from July 16 to August 25, 2017, hosted by the University of Tehran.
In this national event, organized by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in cooperation with the Ministries of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, and Sports and Youth, approximately 2,000 male and female students participated in 120 university teams from public universities, Payame Noor, Applied Science, non-profit institutions, and more.
Considering the quota allocated by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, students from Qom Industrial University also participated in three events: Frisbee, targeted football, and physical fitness.
Dr. Pourkiani, the General Director of Physical Education at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, described sports and physical activity as part of the culture of every country, stating that the goal of organizing this national event was to promote public sports and engage university students. He regarded this event as a model of interaction and synergy among students.
