A Heartfelt Meeting Between the University President and Students of the Basij Student Organization

According to the university's public relations report; Dr. Rezai Noor, the president of Qom Industrial University, informed a group of students from the Basij Student Organization about the measures taken in this area regarding the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus..

In this meeting held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, the efforts made by the Martyr Dr. Ghasemi Student Headquarters, consisting of students from the province, were discussed. According to the head of the university's Basij, in conjunction with the outbreak of this virus in the province, this headquarters commenced its operations in the framework of six working groups and defined 12 major missions including specialized advocacy, awareness-raising, public information, and more.

The main actions taken by this headquarters, which were also reported in writing, are as follows:

1. Formation of the Martyr Dr. Ghasemi Student Headquarters in Qom province on March 24, 2020 through the efforts and dedication of volunteer students.

2. Providing a production site for masks and gloves in the Basij Student Organization of Qom province, establishing various workshops including mechanized mask production and cutting, cutting workshops, glove production workshops, mask isolation workshops, mask fabric cutting workshops, support and distribution sites for home workshops, and collecting and distributing sewn masks from designated workshops.

3. Utilizing the capacity of students in Qom province to produce masks, gloves, etc., with a talent pool of 200 individuals working around the clock in three shifts (morning, afternoon, and night).

4. Activating mask sewing workshops at the Technical and Vocational Womens' University and over 400 home workshops in the province.

5. The presence of student nurses in the early days wearing medical gowns in crowded mosques to provide information and alleviate stress and anxiety among worshipers.

6. Launching the campaign "Life in Motion" by designing several posters on combating COVID-19, promoting hope and vitality, where students engage with the public, take photos with them, and post them on social media. Additionally, launching the "Heavenly Owners" campaign focusing on the presence of student teams in real estate agencies to identify property owners in underprivileged areas and communicate with them about waiving rent payments in Esfand and Farvardin from tenants (so far, 11 cases have been successfully implemented within two days and continues).

7. Issuing a statement by the university's medical Basij and also the university's scientific vice-presidency regarding coronavirus.

8. Producing specialized content and preparing scenarios to convert them into films, clips, infographics, motion graphics, and posters.

9. Producing films and documentaries from the hospitals of Hazrat Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) and Imam Reza (PBUH).

10. Visiting patients and appreciating nurses and medical staff by presenting them with flowers, preparing thank-you posters, and displaying them in hospitals (in hospitals of Hazrat Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and Imam Reza, as well as Kamkar).

11. Addressing significant healthcare and treatment issues in the province in alignment with the core issue movement and professional advocacy from officials during meetings with Dr. Zakhani and revolutionary officials from the Medical University.

12. Preparing a letter to the President to follow up and demand action regarding the lack of appointment for the head of the National Red Crescent Society after a few months, considering the special conditions that have arisen in the country.

13. Drafting a letter to the Coordination Council of the Heads of the Branches addressing the post-COVID environment and presenting two solutions for assisting vulnerable groups affected by the societal implications of the insidious coronavirus in the country.

14. The participation of 52 female volunteer students in responding to the 4030 system and providing specialized information about COVID-19 to fellow citizens through this system for fifty-one days since February 29, 2020; this effort continues.

15. Preparing and distributing hygiene items by students in the homes of the general public.

16. Setting up and constructing a mask production line with the current capacity of 30,000 masks per day using volunteer students in sewing workshops.

17. Preparing and producing 1,500 sets of medical and nursing garments for the hospitals of Hazrat Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH).

18. Supplying 30,000 liters of disinfectant solution with 83% ethanol and distributing it in Qom province and other provinces (Alborz, Tehran, Gilan, Mazandaran, Qazvin, Shiraz, Yazd, South Khorasan, and Zanjan).

19. Providing services and healthcare to the recovered individuals at the Madi Yousef shelter.

20. The presence of the student Basij official of the Medical University in the national headquarters and following up on the status of provincial headquarters across the country.

21. Utilizing the capacity of benefactors to provide healthcare and treatment services in the province and also collaborating with sectors such as the medical community, engineers, and trade unions.

22. Launching the "Jihad of Sympathy" campaign and preparing 1,000 food packages on the brink of the blessed month of Ramadan, utilizing the capacity of benefactors to prepare food packages and distributing them among the needy during Ramadan.

23. Providing news coverage and reflecting activities through Noor Provincial Network and IRIB's Channel 3.

24. Designing and producing an animation about coronavirus that was broadcasted more than 15 times during the Nowruz of the year 2020.

25. Launching an educational channel for teachers and supporting students in basic and middle school levels.

26. Producing 2 audio podcasts in commemoration of the new year during the COVID-19 period.

27. Producing 2 clips inspired by the theme of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) with the participation of students.

At the end of this meeting, the  Basij Students  presented 1,000 masks and 5 boxes of gloves from the production of the Martyr Dr. Ghasemi Student Headquarters as a token of appreciation for the financial support of the university, for the use of the staff of Qom Industrial University.
