Text of the message from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the year 1397. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution named the year 1397 as the "Year of Supporting Iranian Goods";
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a message marking the beginning of the year 1397 in the Persian calendar, congratulated all compatriots and Iranians, especially the esteemed families of martyrs and veterans, as well as the hopeful and pioneering youth driving the scientific progress of the country. He wished for a joyous and sweet Nowruz and a year full of goodness and blessing, declaring the new year as the year of "Support for Iranian Goods." Ayatollah Khamenei, reflecting on the ups and downs and the bittersweet experiences of 1396, described this year as the "Year of the Greatness, Power, and Presence of the Nation" and added: At the beginning of the year, over 40 million people participated in the presidential and council elections with a very good, massive, astonishing, and meaningful presence, and this presence continued during the Quds Day rally, the rallies of 9th of Dey, and especially during the spectacular rally of 22nd of Bahman. He noted that the spontaneous rallies of the people in response to the unrest were indicative of the presence of the great, insightful, agile, and prepared nation of Iran in all fields, stating: The Iranian nation, including those whom the enemies sought to implicate in the unrest, stood firm against the rioters, and this event highlighted the greatness of the Iranian nation more than ever. Ayatollah Khamenei considered the "transformation of regional threats into opportunities" as another achievement of the Islamic Republic in the past year and stated: One of the aims of the regional threats was to harm Iran; however, the Islamic Republic not only prevented any harm from these threats but also turned them into opportunities. He also cited the efforts made to achieve the slogan of 1396, namely "Resilient Economy: Production-Employment," as other positive and promising factors, adding: Good work was carried out for production and employment, and to some extent, the year's slogan was implemented; however, many tasks remain that must be pursued and accomplished until this slogan is fully realized. Incidents such as "floods, earthquakes, the sinking of oil tankers, plane crashes, and the loss of beloved compatriots in these events" were among the bitter occurrences of 1396 that the leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to, noting: In addition to these incidents, the continuation of drought in some regions of the country, as well as ongoing livelihood problems for certain groups from the past, are among the issues that everyone should strive to resolve. In outlining the outlook for the movement of the people and officials in the new year, he stated: In the slogans of the year, I usually address officials, but this year, the audience includes all segments of the nation, including officials, and everyone must work diligently and strive hard. Ayatollah Khamenei identified this year's main issue as the economy and the livelihood of the people, akin to previous years, and emphasized "national production" as the fundamental axis in resolving economic problems, adding: If national production accelerates with collective effort and diligence, many of the livelihood issues and employment and investment problems will be resolved, and social harms will significantly decrease. For this reason, I have named this year "Support for Iranian Goods." The leader of the Islamic Revolution deemed all people and officials as having roles and responsibilities in supporting Iranian goods and added: In my speech on the first day of the year, I will elaborate on the various dimensions of what people and officials should do to support Iranian goods. He also greeted the presence of Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) and sent salutations to the pure soul of the great Imam, considering the coincidence of the natural spring with the spring of spirituality, namely the months of Rajab, Sha'ban, and Ramadan, as an opportunity for the material and spiritual growth and development of the nation.
