As the academic year begins, the Governor of Qom attended a meeting for faculty development and congratulated the start of the academic year while visiting the completed and ongoing projects at Qom Industrial University.
According to the university's public relations report; during this ceremony, Dr. Rezai Nour welcomed the governor and his entourage and discussed the university's history. He stated: Given the strategic importance of Qom Province in terms of geography and the establishment of eight industrial parks in the province, the industry's need for students and faculty from this university is growing increasingly every day.
The university president emphasized the existing potentials at Qom Industrial University, saying: This university is currently regarded as a supporting arm for the industry in the province, which is why the secretariat for the industry-university connection is based here. The first specialized innovation center and demand-driven accelerator in the province will soon be inaugurated at this university.
Dr. Rezai Nour pointed out the missions of Qom Industrial University, noting: In addition to industry, this university maintains effective and productive communications with organizations such as the Jihad of University, Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, and the Researcher Support Fund, assisting these organizations in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Regarding the university's budget, he stated: With the support and collaboration of the esteemed representatives of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, especially Dr. Amirabadi, the university's general budget has increased by 40 percent and the budget for repairs and equipment has risen by 250 percent, enabling us to reconstruct and consolidate approximately ten thousand square meters of the university.
The president of Qom Industrial University added: To foster a spirit of vitality and hope among the students, the Shahid Shahriari Sports Hall has recently been equipped and reinforced, and a synthetic grass field has also been constructed with an investment of approximately 3,500,000,000 rials.
In discussing the university's scientific and research advancements, he said: The process of hiring and changing the status of faculty members has been accelerated, during which 60 percent of faculty members have changed their employment status. Furthermore, the recruitment of new faculty members at this university has increased by 20 percent. The ratio of graduate students to undergraduates has improved from 25 percent to 50 percent. The university's publications have recently been launched, and in this short period, two titles have been published.
In continuation, Dr. Heydari, the Governor of Qom, expressed his pleasure at being present at Qom Industrial University and congratulated the start of the academic year, stating: This year’s academic year has started somewhat differently, apparently creating challenging conditions; however, we have seen in the glorious history of the Islamic Revolution of Iran that no matter how big the problems are, when people unite and strive together, they can easily overcome challenges. I am confident that we will continue this new academic year despite COVID-19 better and more productively than in previous years.
Dr. Heydari, referring to the geographical location of Qom Province, noted: This province is situated next to major industrial provinces, which amplifies the significance of Qom Industrial University several times over. The expectations of officials from this university are that it will solve industrial problems and contribute to the growth and development of the province's industry.
He added: The primary issue in Qom Province is water supply in agriculture, and we expect Qom Industrial University to take action and, through the initiative of its faculty and students, come up with solutions to this problem. The second challenge facing the province is the weak connection between industry and universities. A part of the province's industry is still operating in a traditional manner, which somewhat hinders its growth. If the owners of these industries engage with the faculty and students of this university, they can not only enhance their business but also contribute to the development of the province's industry.
The Governor of Qom announced the establishment of several new industrial zones in the province, stating: Currently, Qom Province has eight industrial parks and four industrial zones. However, due to planned initiatives, the establishment of several new industrial zones is underway, significantly increasing the province's need for Qom Industrial University.
He referred to the enemy's unjust sanctions and said: Thanks to God, our beloved country has made significant progress. Despite all the sanctions and threats, if we maintain our unity, brotherhood, solidarity, and kindness, we will achieve all our demands.
