The Supreme Leader (may His Blessed Shadow Last): It is expected from the university, always and everywhere, to be a place of emergence and peak for two vital currents in the country: first, the current of science and research, and second, the current of ideals, aspirations, and political and social goal-setting.
Sixteenth of Azar is a symbol of the resistance and steadfastness of students against foreign domination and internal tyranny. The sixteenth of Azar is a day that has transformed into a historical epic through the blood of students like Martyr Ghandechi, Martyr Shari'at Rizvi, and Martyr Bozorgnia.
In Islamic Iran, a student is considered an active, dynamic force and a capable arm for the advancement of the country and the holy system of the Islamic Republic. The students of yesterday sacrificed their lives to fulfill their duty to Islam and their Islamic homeland, and today’s students must perform their duty to the Islamic homeland through scientific jihad, preserving the values of the Islamic Revolution, and renewing their commitment to the ideals of the late Imam (RA) and our dear martyrs.
While commemorating the memory and sacrifices of the martyrs of the struggle against imperialism on the day of 16 Azar 1332, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on this great day to the dear students and hope that the scientific community of Islamic Iran will create even more opportunities for the advancement and elevation of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran through dedicated efforts and increased determination.
