According to the university's public relations office: Concurrent with the global week for combating drug abuse (from 31st of Khordad to 5th of Tir), a workshop on psychological first aid focused on preventing addiction was held at the Shahid Akhoundi conference hall of Qom University of Technology, organized by the university’s counseling center.
In this two-day workshop, attended by faculty and staff, Dr. Beheshti, an experienced professor in the field of prevention and treatment of addiction, addressed the main reasons for an individual's inclination towards addiction, the role of family in the emergence of addiction, symptoms of addiction among students, and more.
He continued by introducing various types of drugs visually and pointed out the signs and symptoms of drug use in individuals, stating: to recognize those affected by this devastating plague at early stages, there exists a golden opportunity for identification and rescue; thus, knowing these signs and symptoms is essential for parents, especially for educators and professors.
He also criticized the current state of society due to the easy accessibility of various drugs, particularly for the youth, and emphasized that increased vigilance and preventive measures are among the most important responsibilities of families and educational institutions.
It is worth mentioning that organizing an exhibition of boards and paintings containing warnings and preventive messages in the Shahid Akhoundi conference hall and sending informative and preventive messages highlighting the consequences of drug addiction through communication channels in the virtual space were other activities of the university's counseling center during the international week for combating drug abuse.
