The first session of the series of provincial meetings on sustainable biotechnology was held at Qom University of Technology.

According to the university's public relations: The first meeting in a series of meetings on biotechnology was held with the presence of Dr. Khodaknownas, the President of Qom University of Technology, Dr. Daniali, the Director General of Environmental Protection of the province, Dr. Shafiei, the Deputy for Environmental Monitoring and Supervision, Dr. Kamali, the Deputy for Natural Resources and Watershed Management, and Dr. Malhouji, the Environmental Consultant in the Governor's Office, organized by the Civil Engineering Association in the Shahid Akhoundi Conference Hall of Qom University of Technology.
In this meeting, the factors contributing to and exacerbating dust storms in the province were examined, pointing to issues such as consecutive droughts, lack of integrated water resource management, decreased rainfall and humidity levels, desertification, and the destruction caused by human activities.
Additionally, in order to reduce dust storms, solutions were proposed including the creation of a green space belt around the city, preservation and expansion of urban green spaces, controlling construction activities and stationary sources of dust production, utilizing new technologies to combat dust, increasing public awareness, proper management of water and soil resources, and addressing desertification.
Further, the officials present at the meeting called for the establishment of integrated management of all environmental protection activities within the province, and Qom University of Technology can play a significant role in achieving the environmental protection goals of the province through the implementation of research projects and oversight of all these activities.
Finally, a visit was made to the Bahesht-i Masoumeh Wetland, which is filled with reeds and various herbaceous, algal, fish, and migratory bird species.
