According to the Public Relations of the university: The celebration of the International Day of University Sports was held at Shahid Beheshti University, hosted by the Shahid Abbaspour campus, with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Science, the Director General of Sports and Physical Education of the Organization for Student Affairs, and 150 students representing the university and higher education sports associations across the country.
Seyyed Hassan Sadough, the President of Shahid Beheshti University, stated: The primary responsibility of every individual is to safeguard and protect oneself, even in performing religious matters, as the preservation of the body is considered essential because the preservation of the body is the precursor to the preservation of the soul.
The President of Shahid Beheshti University expressed: In the realm of university sports, we all know that we will only succeed in the academic, educational, research, and other university-related affairs if we possess a healthy body, and exercising is essential for maintaining that health.
The Director General of Physical Education at the Ministry of Science commemorated the International Day of University Sports and congratulated the students, stating: University sports in Iran has significant potential and requires comprehensive support from various sectors.
He added regarding the provision of sports facilities: Although very good measures have been taken in this area, we are still far from reaching an optimal point, and last year, the per capita sports space in universities was one meter and 18 centimeters, which will reach one and a half meters by the end of this year.

Pourkiani, referring to the equipping of 100 dormitories with sports facilities, emphasized: Our students spend a lot of time in their dormitories; therefore, with the very good support from the officials of the Ministry of Science, we have equipped 100 dormitories with sports facilities, and this year, the same number of dormitories will be equipped with sports equipment and weight rooms to encourage students to engage in sports activities more.
Pourkiani stated that currently more than 6,500 students are members of university sports associations, adding: With the special support of the officials of the Ministry of Science for sports associations and the allocation of 500 million tomans to them, we will witness an increase in student participation in these associations.
The Director General of Physical Education at the Ministry of Science referred to the establishment of the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Association and stated: This association will provide excellent capacities for the development of university sports, including analytical robots for technical issues in various sports that can greatly assist Iran's national sports, and also, the Entrepreneurship and Employment Association was established a few months ago to focus on developing entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
He emphasized that we are aiming for students to have easy access to sports facilities and added: Completing unfinished sports projects and equipping dormitories with more sports facilities can play a significant role in this regard, so that any student with the will can utilize sports facilities with minimal issues.
