According to the public relations office of the university: Simultaneously with the celebrations of the Shahbani holidays, the officials of Qom University of Technology met and discussed with Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi.
In this meeting, Ayatollah Makarem referenced the religious and cultural character of the holy city of Qom, considering the universities in this city as unique. He stated: A university is a very sensitive place as its graduates will hold key positions in the country. If they have also learned faith in the universities, they can be healthy and virtuous, and thus we will have a healthy and virtuous society.
The source of emulation for the Islamic world said: While the Crusades were very costly for the West in both financial and human terms, they had one positive aspect; that is, the Europeans were able to utilize the knowledge of Muslims. The West owes its scientific status to Muslim scholars. For instance, the book "Al-Qanun" by Avicenna has been taught in European universities for many years.
He added: If our youth are aware of these topics and become familiar with the sciences that are mentioned in the Holy Quran or have been discovered by Muslim scholars, they will feel a sense of independence and identity and will engage in research with greater self-confidence.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi emphasized: Some of the sciences in our universities have come from the West and carry a Western flavor, so it is the duty of our faithful and religious professors to localize these sciences. He said: Not only in Qom but throughout the country, if the knowledge of professors and students is paired with Islamic belief and religious sciences, they can be the solution to the country's issues.
At the end, Dr. Rezaei Nour, President of Qom University of Technology, introduced the university. He stated: Qom University of Technology has started its activities in the city of Karrimeh Al-Ahl Bayt since 1387 in the fields of technical engineering, with 57 faculty members, 2,000 students, and 90 staff.
He added: Given the significance of this holy city, Qom University of Technology is proud to promote veiling and chastity as well. In this regard, the students of this university have chosen to wear the chador as the superior form of hijab.
