According to the public relations department of the university: The research project of Dr. Jafar Khademzadeh Yeganeh and Dr. Mohsen Najafi, faculty members of the Polymer Group at Qom University of Technology, has been introduced as the top research project at the 10th National Research and Technology Festival of Industry, Mine, and Commerce.
This project concerns the examination of suitable plasticizers for use in the PVC industry and the proposal of alternative materials to the DOP plasticizer.
Dr. Khademzadeh Yeganeh stated regarding the importance of this project: Considering that the city of Qom is one of the main hubs for shoes and sandals in the country, the efficient and cost-effective use of PVC is one of the primary concerns for manufacturers in the province.
The faculty members of the Polymer Group at Qom University of Technology added: In this regard, the use of plasticizers is very important and essential. Currently, DOP is one of the most widely used plasticizers in the PVC industry. However, issues such as the exclusivity of its raw materials and the high pollution levels of these substances have posed numerous challenges for manufacturers.
Dr. Khademzadeh Yeganeh said: The proposed plasticizer in this project has addressed the existing problems for manufacturers. This project will be implemented once funding is secured.
