Two faculty members of Qom University of Technology among the top two percent of scientists.

According to the public relations of Qom University of Technology, in the latest research and introduction of the world's top scientists by Stanford University's database, two faculty members from Qom University of Technology have been ranked among the top 2 percent of scientists worldwide. Based on the report from Stanford University and Elsevier publications, Dr. Mostafa Talabi from the Mechanical Engineering faculty and Dr. Hadi Zayani from the Electrical Engineering faculty of Qom University of Technology are recognized among the world's top 2 percent of scientists in 2023. In recent years, several researchers from Stanford University have utilized data from the Scopus database to create a database and compute an index known as the "Compound Citation Index." This list has become known in our country as «Stanford University List» and has garnered media and institutional attention. The aim of this database is to provide a collection of standardized citation metrics for evaluating the citation impacts of scientists across various fields and scientific domains globally. In fact, the Compound Citation Index, introduced in 2016, combines several distinct citation metrics based on the number of citations received by scientists' articles and their authorship rankings (co-authorship pattern), along with the h-index. This research, conducted based on data from the Scopus citation database, has categorized scientists into five main subject areas, 22 secondary subject areas, and 176 disciplines based on standardized citation metrics. The requirement for researchers to enter the ranking process is the publication of at least five articles, resulting in approximately eight million scientists being reviewed and evaluated, with both the top one hundred thousand and the top two percent in each subject area included in the final list. According to the latest update of this database, covering data from 1996 to 2021, the list includes highly cited authors based on the Compound Citation Index and identifies them as the top two percent of cited scholars. The names are presented at two levels, with one method solely calculating citations for the year 2021. Out of a total of 200,409 international researchers with affiliations in Iran, 1,870 have been identified, including two faculty members from Qom University of Technology, Dr. Mostafa Talabi from the Mechanical Engineering faculty and Dr. Hadi Zayani from the Electrical Engineering faculty, who rank among the top two percent of scientists worldwide in 2023. We congratulate this remarkable achievement to the scientific community of Islamic Iran, especially to the academic community of Qom University of Technology.
