Dr. Karimi, the Vice President for Student Affairs, congratulated all students, staff, and faculty of the university on the New Year during an interview with the university's public relations. In this online discussion, Dr. Karimi referred to the year 2019 as a very successful year in the field of student affairs, highlighting the constructive actions and interactions carried out with students.
He continued by introducing various sections within the student affairs domain, outlining the actions taken by these sections in 2019, summarized as follows:
The Student and Cultural Affairs Department, along with the student management, cultural activities, physical education, and the counseling and health center, is dedicated to providing student services and facilities along with cultural and extracurricular activities to our dear students. Promoting a desirable lifestyle and enhancing student life productivity, as well as building capacity for students to participate in university student and cultural programs with the aim of advocating an Islamic-Iranian lifestyle, are among the responsibilities of this department. In this regard, the development and expansion of student organizations, academic associations, cultural centers, and the university's student council, as well as leveraging the potential of student work in other areas, have been given serious attention. Planning for students to access various types of student loans and addressing cases before the special committee and disciplinary actions have also been among the other activities of this department. Establishing health files, monitoring physical and mental wellness, and offering educational and clinical consultations are activities conducted by the university's counseling and health center.
In the academic year 2019-2020, Qom University of Technology consolidated its student dormitories in the dormitory complex of Mofid University and planned to synergize the capabilities of student management, cultural affairs, counseling and health center, physical education, while cooperating with the leadership office, the student council, and other student organizations, creating a good cultural and social environment in the student residences. The consolidation of dormitories has also led to higher satisfaction regarding the transportation services provided. Following the announcement of the coronavirus outbreak, plans were made to maintain student tranquility and prepare health equipment, with a gradual evacuation of dormitories and sanitization of the dorms being prioritized.
In Esfand, when the coronavirus swept through Iran and universities were shutting down their educational activities, alongside activating virtual education, cultural and extracurricular activities gained a new flavor through the activation of organizations, academic associations, and cultural centers in the virtual space, experimenting with the proper use of cyberspace. Activities in this regard focused on raising awareness about preventing the spread of the coronavirus, providing entertainment for staying at home, promoting reading culture, and keeping the atmosphere of student vitality alive. Additionally, groups such as the Al-Tah Group of the Student Basij directly entered the field and assisted the health and medical teams and the public by launching workshops for the production of health and medical materials and disinfectants.
Once again, I congratulate the university community, especially dear students, on the New Year and wish all of you health and success.
