According to the Public Relations Department of the university: On the occasion of the Day of Mubahala, an electronic cultural brochure was prepared and sent to employees through administrative automation. Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Omidian, the esteemed cultural director, shared insights about this day between the noon and afternoon prayers, to further familiarize the worshippers. He stated: The essence of Mubahala is such that individuals engaged in a significant religious discourse gather in one place to supplicate to God, asking Him to expose and punish the liar.
Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Omidian elaborated on the events of the Day of Mubahala, indicating that the Mubahala of the Prophet peace be upon him with the Christians of Najran took place on the twenty-fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah in the tenth year of the Hijra. The Prophet peace be upon him invited the Christian inhabitants of Najran to embrace Islam through a letter. The people of Najran, who were unwilling to accept Islam, sent their representatives to Medina, and the Prophet peace be upon him invited them to Mubahala by the command of God.
He further clarified: When the delegation from Najran witnessed the humility of the Prophet peace be upon him, they refrained from Mubahala. They requested the Prophet peace be upon him to allow them to remain in their faith under Islamic governance.
Additionally, he referred to verse 61 of Surah Aal-e-Imran "...Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves..." and added: This verse declares the inseparability of authority from prophethood to the world. Interestingly, this concept was understood by Christian scholars, acknowledging the high status of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), whereas some narrators of this incident, who are Sunni, failed to grasp this matter. Thus, the Christian scholar understood this position and withdrew from Mubahala, while the Sunni could not comprehend it.
