The Presence of Qom University Press at the First Virtual Tehran Book Fair

The first virtual book fair in Tehran will be held from January 21 to January 26 this year.
According to the public relations of the university, quoting from Young Journalists Club; Ayoub Dehghan Kaar, the CEO of the House of Book and Literature of Iran, stated in a press conference regarding the hosting of the first virtual book fair in Tehran: The thirty-third international book fair in Tehran was scheduled to be held from April 15 to May 5; however, the outbreak of the coronavirus and its impact on various sectors of the country led the policy council of this cultural event to announce that the thirty-third book fair would not be held.

He added: After that, it was decided that supportive processes for the publishing industry in the country would continue. The holding of the physical book fair in Tehran was one of the supportive measures that was on the agenda of the cultural affairs office of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance; however, it could not be realized. Therefore, we proceeded with hosting the first virtual book fair.

Details of Publishers' Participation in the Virtual Book Fair

The CEO of the House of Book and Literature of Iran continued: A total of 1,732 publishers registered for the virtual book fair in Tehran. Of these, 1,135 publishers became members of the book post system, and 1,152 publishers completed their information editing process. Those who have not yet taken this action should join the book post system in the next couple of days and complete their information editing process. Over 100,000 titles of books will be showcased at this cultural event. 180 foreign publishers with more than 20,000 titles are participating in this virtual exhibition. Foreign books will be presented in Latin and Arabic languages at this fair. In the international section, 142 cultural institutions are participating, and about 1,845 book titles are set to be unveiled, along with 25 domestic cultural sessions taking place at the virtual book fair in Tehran.

Dehghan Kaar stated: 81,428 gift cards have been distributed to students and seminary students, and their credits have been charged to their national identification codes. Over 8,000 faculty members and 8,000 seminar students are utilizing these gift cards. Necessary arrangements have been made for holding the virtual book fair. Considering that this event is our first experience, it certainly has its shortcomings.

He noted: The information about books on the website of the virtual book fair in Tehran is displayed randomly, prioritizing the year of publication. Mobile operators send text messages informing the public about the holding of the virtual book fair in Tehran. This cultural event will be held on our web platform, and more than 159,000 people have registered to receive book subsidies. If these individuals make purchases at the virtual book fair in Tehran, over 500,000 book packages will be sent via post.
It is worth mentioning that the publications of Qom Industrial University have presented two books; Branding and Brand Management and the book on Deep Excavations at this fair.
