According to the public relations office of the university: The presidents of Qom University, Qom University of Technology, and Hazrat Masoumeh University met with Hojjatoleslam Valmuslimeen Zollnoor, the representative of the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, who expressed his opposition to the impeachment of the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology.
In this meeting, which aimed to exchange views and present the demands of the presidents of the provincial public universities of Qom, Dr. Rezaei Noor, President of Qom University of Technology, praised Hojjatoleslam Valmuslimeen Zollnoor's revolutionary positions in the Islamic Consultative Assembly and his efforts to resolve the country’s issues. He deemed the impeachment of the Minister of Science as a factor disrupting the stability and tranquility of the country's academic community, adding that the minister, along with the deputy ministers and officials of the ministry, are clean-handed, empathetic, and cultured individuals. At the forefront is Dr. Gholami, who is diligently and wisely advancing the scientific, research, and educational status of the country. Furthermore, the performance of the Ministry of Science has resulted in the production of approximately 3,000 knowledge-based products and more than 40,000 jobs in the areas of production and knowledge-based economy and realizing fourth-generation universities, which are pride-inducing entrepreneurial universities.
Dr. Rezaei Noor regarded the reform of the country’s tax system and the expansion of Islamic justice as one of the necessities of today’s society, stating that this issue should be pursued with full planning and transparency through the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
He added that the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology is one of the cleanest government agencies and, thankfully, no embezzlement or financial corruption has occurred so far.
The President of Qom University of Technology mentioned that 4.5 million young individuals, as students, are part of the larger family of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, stating that by investing in this sector, not only will we enhance the academic atmosphere of the country, but we will also exploit the potential of the youth in the best possible way. Therefore, spending the budget in universities for the education and training of the younger generation will yield the best returns for the country.
Dr. Rezaei Noor noted that since the holy city of Qom is the center of the Islamic world, Qom universities are at the forefront of Islamic universities. Qom University, with its gender segregation plan, Hazrat Masoumeh University (S) with its single-gender plan, and Qom University of Technology through promoting hijab and chastity via the superior covering of chador, have significantly impacted the cultural enhancement of the university youth community.
In conclusion, Hojjatoleslam Valmuslimeen Zollnoor reiterated his opposition to the impeachment of the Minister of Science and acknowledged the positive performance and the creation of a calm environment in universities during Dr. Gholami's tenure. He stated that so far, he has made every effort to retrieve the signatures of the representatives in favor of the impeachment and expressed hope that the impeachment issue does not reach the open sessions of the Assembly.
The representative of the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated that a plan for the financial transparency of officials, managers, and citizens through the registration of property and assets in a system is underway in the tax system, which will promote Islamic justice upon implementation.
He estimated the quota for each province in student admissions to be around 150,000 and added that currently, this quota for Qom province is 95,000. Considering Qom's proximity to the capital and its religious and cultural capacities, the number of students from Qom province should increase by approximately fifty percent.
