According to the Public Relations of the University: A reporter from Iqna in Qom conducted an interview with Dr. Jalal Rezai-Noor, the President of Qom Industrial University, regarding the Jihad University that is presented to the audience below.
Iqna - In your opinion, considering the current state of society, how necessary is it to have institutions like the Jihad University that are managed and run by a dedicated team?
The Jihad University is one of the scientific institutions of the country that has emerged as very influential since the beginning of the revolution. With a jihadist approach, it strives to connect scientific discussions and transform ideas into technology. For instance, in the field of reverse engineering and the production of technologies, products, and components needed by society—especially given the sanctions—it has been very beneficial and effective. Although the Jihad University has been active since the early years of the revolution, its activities resemble those of growth centers and science and technology parks.
Today, the importance of the technology ecosystem in the form of growth and innovation centers and science and technology parks is well recognized. However, it should be noted that the Jihad University has long been established with the lofty vision of the late leader of the revolution, with similar missions, demonstrating the strategic depth of the Supreme Leader’s vision.
Iqna - How do you assess the diversity and expansion of the services provided by the Jihad University?
The Jihad University has engaged in various fields, including education, culture, and even addressing social issues, and has proven to be highly effective. For example, it has been very successful in the area of infertility treatment, contributing to health tourism as well, with individuals traveling from other countries to utilize these services in our country, enhancing the global reputation of this center.
Additionally, in the educational and cultural sectors, it has historically offered useful educational courses with qualified instructors at reasonable costs, suitable for students and those eager to learn. The Jihad University’s involvement in cultural matters has always been noteworthy, and Qom Industrial University also benefits from these services.
Iqna - How do you evaluate the interaction and relationship of Qom Industrial University with the Jihad University?
Since the early days of my responsibility at Qom Industrial University, meetings have been held with the officials of the Jihad University in Qom. Furthermore, officials from the Jihad University have made several visits to Qom Industrial University, and subsequently, officials from Qom Industrial University have attended the Jihad University’s facilities. We also allocated an office at Qom Industrial University for the Jihad University, where a representative resides. However, with the outbreak of the coronavirus and the transition to remote learning at universities, this cooperation has diminished. Fortunately, the Jihad University continued its activities, and as in-person university operations have resumed, we can again benefit from the services and offerings of the Jihad University.
Over the years, the faculty members of Qom Industrial University have collaborated with the Jihad University on various research projects and plans, including work in the field of plasma and the development of software for one of the imported devices used at the Jihad University. Thankfully, these research projects have resulted in successful outcomes, and we aim to further expand this collaboration to enhance our work in this area.
Iqna - In your opinion, what role can the Jihad University play in achieving this year's slogan?
Regarding the realization of this year's slogan, the Jihad University can undoubtedly play a very significant role. Essentially, one could say the Jihad University is like a university in itself as it actively works in various fields—including education, cultural development, and the enhancement of social capital—that closely resembles the activities of a university. Additionally, the Jihad University’s obligation to convert knowledge into wealth serves as a strong motivator for directing technical knowledge and science toward knowledge-based production. Thus, alongside these economic activities, the Jihad University creates value and contributes to job creation, as emphasized in this year's slogan by the Supreme Leader.
