Interview with an eighth-semester student of Mechanical Engineering at Qom University of Technology, who won a special award at the International Geneva Inventions Exhibition.

According to the university's public relations: Sina Boroujerdi, an eighth-semester mechanical engineering student at Qom Industrial University, received a special award at the international invention competitions in Geneva for building a submarine.
Sina Boroujerdi stated in an interview with a public relations reporter that this submarine was built over two years by a four-member team (Ehsan Hajazi, Alireza Habibi, and Mehran Javadi). This submarine attaches to oil pipes at a depth of 50 meters using special magnets, and by resisting subsurface currents, it can accurately examine the oil pipes. The precision and capability of this submarine are so high that it can replace several divers.
He added: One of the other advantages of this submarine is cleaning algae and sediment from the hull of ships. Currently, cleaning the hull of giant ships is a very time-consuming and costly process. Ships need to be removed from the water and cleaned in a large environment, whereas this submarine can perform the cleaning of giant ships in the water and even while they are moving.
Furthermore, Sina Boroujerdi noted: Considering that issues related to oil and gas are deemed strategic in today's world, using this submarine in the oil industry could be very effective.
The eighth-semester mechanical engineering student at Qom Industrial University mentioned his interest in robotics, stating: Since my school days, I have been involved in robot construction by participating in Khwarizmi competitions, where I achieved a good rank, and I also managed to secure second place in the RoboCup international competitions.
He discussed the challenges of this project, saying: We faced significant difficulties regarding team formation, physical space for building the submarine, financial issues, and more. Nonetheless, I have never lost hope. I reached out to various companies and factories for financial support and met with their managers in person until finally, Poly Rod Ettehad Company, a manufacturer of intercity polyethylene pipes, agreed to support our project financially.
In response to the question of whether he intends to stay abroad or not, Sina Boroujerdi said: If we look at the matter realistically, there are many advantages of living abroad for a young person like me, such as excellent universities, high income, and so on. However, I believe we should stay in Iran and change the circumstances. If there were resources, that would be ideal, but if not, we need to experiment with new methods or even create a path of our own.
In conclusion, he added: In the coming months, I will participate with this submarine in one of the exhibitions organized by NASA in the United States. The invitation has already been sent from the U.S., and the initial stages of the process have been completed. Additionally, I am motivated and currently working on a newer project, which, with God's blessing and the experiences I gained from the previous project, I am hopeful for a very good outcome.
