His Excellency Ayatollah Khamenei, in his New Year's message addressed to the people of Iran, designated the year 1395 as the year of "Resistance Economy; Action and Implementation."
The text of the message from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution is as follows.
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
O Turner of hearts and sights. O Manager of night and day. O Transformer of years and circumstances. Change our state for the better.
Peace be upon the Pure and Chaste, Fatimah al-Zahra, the beloved daughter of the Prophet of God, may God’s peace be upon him and his family. And peace be upon the Guardian of God, our souls be sacrificed for him, and may God hasten his reappearance.
I congratulate all Iranian families and Iranians in every corner of the world on the occasion of Nowruz. May your holiday be blessed, dear compatriots. Especially to the families of the martyrs, to the esteemed veterans, to their respected families, and to all those who made sacrifices, I extend my congratulations and honor the memory of our noble martyrs and our beloved Imam.
The year that has begun - the year 1395 - is blessed with the sacred name of Lady Zahra (peace be upon her), both at the beginning and at the end. The beginning of this year coincides with the birth of that great lady in the lunar months, as does the end of this year. Therefore, we hope that, God willing, 1395 will be a blessed year for the people of Iran due to the blessings of Lady Zahra, and that we can learn from her spirituality, her guidance, and her way of life.
The year that has ended - 1394 - like all other years, was a mixture of sweetness and bitterness, ups and downs; this is the nature of life; from the bitter incident of Mina to the sweetness of the February 22nd rallies and the elections of Esfand 7th; in the context of the JCPOA, from the hopes it raised to the anxieties accompanying it; all of these were part of the events of the year, and this is the case for all years.
The years and days of human life consist of opportunities and threats. Our art should be to seize opportunities and to turn threats into opportunities. The year 1395 lies ahead of us. Like always, this year also contains opportunities and threats. Everyone must strive to make the most of this year's opportunities in the literal sense of the word, and for the country to show noticeable differences from the beginning to the end of this year.
There are hopes for the year 1395. When one looks at the overall situation, one can see these hopes. However, to realize these hopes, effort is necessary; we must work tirelessly and must make continuous efforts. The key issue is that the Iranian nation must be able to do something that would protect itself from the vulnerabilities posed by enemies and their hostilities. We must work to ensure that we are not vulnerable to enemy threats. We must reduce vulnerability to zero.
In my opinion, the issue of the economy is the top priority. This means that when one considers the prioritized issues, the economy is the most immediate and closest one. If, with divine permission, both the nation and the government and various officials can make the right and appropriate moves in economic matters, there is hope that in other matters, such as social issues, social harms, moral issues, and cultural matters, they will also be impactful.
In the issue of the economy, what is important and fundamental is domestic production; the creation of jobs and the alleviation of unemployment; the mobility and economic growth, and countering recession; these are the pressing issues for the people; these are the things that people feel and demand; and the statistics and statements made by officials also indicate that these demands and desires of the people are justified and timely.
If we want to solve the problem of recession, to resolve the issue of domestic production, to solve the problem of unemployment, and to control inflation, the remedy for all of these lies within the framework of economic resistance and a resistance economy. A resistance economy encompasses all of these issues. One can fight unemployment with a resistance economy; one can combat recession; one can control inflation; one can stand firm against enemy threats; one can create many opportunities for the country and take advantage of them; the condition is that work and effort must be directed toward a resistance economy.
The report that our brothers in the government provided me indicates that extensive work has been done; however, this work consists of preliminary tasks; these are tasks related to the issuance of guidelines and directives to various agencies; these are preliminary works; but what is essential is that we must continue to act, implement, and demonstrate the results of our work to the people; this is our responsibility; and I will, God willing, elaborate on it in my speech to our dear nation.
Therefore, what I choose as this year's slogan is "Resistance Economy; Action and Implementation." This is the direct and clear path toward what we need. Of course, we do not expect this action and implementation to resolve all problems within a year; however, we are certain that if action and implementation are carried out in a well-planned and proper manner, we will witness its effects and signs by the end of this year. I thank all those who have strived and are striving in this path.
Once again, I extend my greetings and congratulations to our dear nation and request God's blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and upon the Awaited Imam, may peace be upon him and our souls be sacrificed for him.
And peace be upon you, and God's mercy and blessings.
