According to the Public Relations Office of Qom Industrial University, Dr. Mohsen Najafi, a faculty member and director of the Central Laboratory of Qom Industrial University, stated regarding the impactful role of laboratories in the development of science and technology: "The laboratories in the country are a national treasure, and accumulating the cost of laboratory equipment in the country is a significant investment."
He continued: "No technology develops without going through laboratory stages, and this is nearly impossible."
Dr. Mohsen Najafi, a faculty member and director of the Central Laboratory of Qom Industrial University, in an interview with the university's Public Relations Office, expressed: "The laboratories in the country are a national treasure, and accumulating the cost of laboratory equipment is a significant investment."
He added: "Science plays an undeniable role in wealth creation, and no technology develops without undergoing laboratory stages, which is nearly impossible."
The faculty member and director of the Central Laboratory of Qom Industrial University highlighted the activities in this area over the past year, adding: "The main activities carried out in this regard include attracting and allocating budget for purchasing equipment to improve the quality of laboratories and workshops. Despite the severe financial constraints of the university in 2019, around 250 million tomans were allocated for purchasing equipment from the relevant budgets, which was spent on acquiring approximately 20 devices for equipping the workshops and laboratories."
He also mentioned: "In order to attract financial resources for purchasing equipment, proposals were submitted to the Research Vice Presidency, the Ministry of Science, and the Iranian Scientific Laboratories Network (Shaya) as the authority responsible for allocating funding from item 'H' of the budget. An amount equivalent to about 104,000 Euros was secured for the university, and with the deposit of approximately 25% of this amount, initial actions began for purchasing equipment according to the proposed plans and prioritization."
Dr. Mohsen Najafi considered the organization of laboratory and workshop spaces among the most important actions in this area, stating: "The initial goal was to consolidate the laboratories and workshops of each group in a nearby complex, which was achieved in the case of the laboratories of the Physics group and the Electrical Engineering group. Additionally, some of the laboratories of the Electrical Engineering group underwent complete reconstruction, and a research space was allocated to the Chemistry group, which has started to admit master's students this year."
The faculty member and director of the Central Laboratory of Qom Industrial University announced initial construction activities for the creation of workshops and laboratories for the Mechanical Engineering group, with an approximate area of 600 square meters. He added: "Miscellaneous actions aimed at optimizing facilities and revitalizing existing potentials; by centralizing the management of all university laboratories under the Laboratory Administration, this opportunity was created to evaluate the overall situation of the laboratories, including statistics on equipment, spaces, and educational and research capacities, allowing for decisions regarding the optimization and revitalization of existing capacities to be made."
At the end of this meeting, some decisions made regarding the optimization and revitalization of these capacities were also mentioned.
The consolidation of the Industrial Control Laboratory of the Electrical Engineering group and the Process Control Laboratory of the Polymer Engineering group under the title (Control Laboratory) has resulted in the establishment of a well-equipped laboratory capable of providing comprehensive training services to the groups of Electrical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
The establishment of an internal mixing device and a plastic injection machine that had been left unused for extended periods due to the lack of primary infrastructure.
The allocation of appropriate space and budget for equipping high-traffic educational laboratories such as Physics Lab 1, Physics Lab 2, and the Electrical Workshop, as well as preparing the initial plan for expanding laboratory and workshop spaces.
Better management of human resources and setting balanced job descriptions for the laboratory experts have been carried out in the Laboratory Administration and workshops of Qom Industrial University in 2019.
