The text of these guidelines is as follows:
Considering the special circumstances of the second semester of the academic year 98-99 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, and thanking the esteemed professors and students for their cooperation and participation in the continuation of the university's educational and research activities virtually, following previous announcements and aiming to provide facilities to dear students and to reduce their concerns and those of their families, the following guidelines, developed with the participation of the university's education council members, are being issued for implementation.
- The holding of theoretical classes and some practical courses will continue to be conducted virtually. The university is continuously striving to enhance the necessary infrastructure for the virtual delivery of lessons. In this regard, the university has upgraded its virtual class hosting servers and is also planning to purchase dedicated servers. Additionally, the virtual education platform of Qom University of Technology has been made available to internet service providers through the Communications Regulatory Authority, and accordingly, the internet usage traffic for virtual classes will be calculated free of charge for students and professors.
- Completion of practical and workshop courses will be held intensively after the physical reopening. If it is not possible to complete these courses by the date of 31/06/1399, the course will be declared incomplete and offered in the next semester without counting towards the student's credit limit. The education council will subsequently decide on the details of this issue.
- Exams will be held in person after the reopening of the university. If it is not possible to reopen by the date of 31/05/1399, the education council will make decisions based on the Ministry's resolutions.
- Undergraduate and graduate students will be allowed to drop two theoretical courses during the emergency drop period. It is noteworthy that after dropping courses, undergraduate students must maintain a minimum of 9 credits, and graduate students must maintain at least 6 credits.
- Undergraduate students can take up to three theoretical courses through "introduction to the professor" in accordance with other educational regulations.
- Students can continue to drop the semester before the exams as before. Requests for semester drops without credits will be referred to the special cases commission for decision-making, provided that acceptable reasons are presented that prove they are unable to complete the semester due to factors arising from the outbreak of the coronavirus.
- Requests for extending the study period for students who, at the end of the current semester, are unable to complete their studies due to their study limits will be considered by the special cases commission, taking into account the specific situation of the coronavirus outbreak.
- Requests for reinstatement by students who will be expelled due to conditionality at the end of the current semester will be reviewed by the special cases commission, considering the specific situation of the coronavirus outbreak.
- It is important to remember that according to educational regulations, failing grades are not calculated in students' overall GPA.
- Undergraduate students who have taken internships and projects during the current semester have until the end of summer to complete their projects and internships and register their scores in the second semester of 99-98. If it is not possible for students to complete their internship by the end of summer, the internship period can be extended with the university's coordination.
- Offering the undergraduate project courses virtually is permissible.
- While thanking the esteemed faculty members for their cooperation in conducting virtual classes, it is expected that the same seriousness and commitment will be present in other educational and research activities, including student guidance and consultation as well as project and thesis evaluations, and these matters should be conducted electronically until the university reopens.
