Dr. Rezai Noor, in a meeting attended by Dr. Bakhtiari and Engineer Amrollahi, the Vice President and Chairman of the Urban Development and Transportation Commission of the Islamic Council of Qom, addressed the issues faced by the university in the urban domain.
He, while referring to the university's diverse academic programs, stated: Considering the various disciplines at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at this university, along with the presence of experienced faculty and active students, Qom University of Technology, as a supportive arm, can significantly assist the municipality and the urban management system in urban services.
The President of Qom University of Technology added: Highlighting the environmental pollution problems and the importance of green technology in the country, as well as the existing industrial parks of Ghadir, Shokoohiyeh, and the Salafchegan Free Economic Zone in Qom province, and the university's mission-oriented approach towards sustainable industrial development, Qom University of Technology can play an essential role both in resolving industrial challenges and advancing green technology.
He regarded the necessity of constructing an overpass in front of the university as one of the major priorities for the institution, adding: Given the establishment of the university in this part of the city and the heavy vehicle traffic, the safety of students is at risk.
Dr. Rezai Noor, referring to tragic accidents involving students on this route, stated: Despite repeated follow-ups regarding the construction of the overpass, this issue has not yet been resolved. Given that the peace and safety of students are a priority for us, the university will even bear part of the costs related to the construction of the overpass and will undertake it as a joint project with the municipality.
The President of Qom University of Technology pointed out that non-local students and that Qom University of Technology is considered a support for universities in Tehran, and he said: To facilitate the welfare of students and ease their commuting, arrangements should be made for the establishment of an intercity bus station adjacent to the university in coordination and cooperation with the province's transportation and terminal management.
Dr. Rezai Noor, while thanking the municipal officials for establishing the Student Park at the university's entrance, referred to deficiencies such as the lack of canopies, inappropriate paving stones, and the absence of benches in this park. He also emphasized the inadequate lighting in the university's outer area as one of the issues that need to be addressed in collaboration with urban management.
Subsequently, Dr. Bakhtiari expressed his satisfaction from this meeting, stating: The interactions between Qom University of Technology and the municipality must reach a level where we feel the need for the scientific and research capacities of this university to implement urban projects.
He added: Qom University of Technology, considering its vision and mission in the field of sustainable industry, can help ameliorate many of the issues faced by industrial estates.
