According to the university's public relations, the first session of the virtual training course on psychological first aid, focusing on quarantine, interpersonal issues, new lifestyle habits, adapting to new conditions, and more, was organized by the university's counseling and health unit.
Dr. Barghari, the instructor of this course, began the first session by explaining the choice theory, highlighting the importance of realistically viewing problems during the pandemic. She noted that experiencing some feelings of depression in these circumstances is completely normal. We have the right to feel disordered in our daily lives due to various issues. Worries about financial problems and even basic necessities are natural and do not indicate pathological depression; rather, these feelings of sadness and concern are entirely natural. Pathological depression typically lasts at least two weeks, and we must differentiate between these types of depression. She went on to enumerate the symptoms of pathological depression and emphasized that these symptoms must be evident in a person for at least two weeks. Furthermore, while discussing resilience skills, she stated that experiencing emotions is like riding a wave. It is essentially a form of mindfulness towards the current emotion.
