The President of Qom University of Technology announced the establishment of an innovation center and the first co-working space in Qom province within the next three months at the university, stating: This center will operate in areas related to consulting and training for knowledge-based companies, technology units, and support for individuals interested in developing some of their knowledge-based ideas.
According to the report from Mowj News Agency and as quoted by the Public Relations of Qom University of Technology: Jalal Rezayi Nour, the President of Qom University of Technology, during a visit to the editorial office of this news agency, said that about 2,000 students are studying in 8 undergraduate programs and 16 master's programs at this university.
He pointed out that Qom University of Technology, due to its location on the country's main transportation route, situated between 8 industrial towns and 4 industrial zones, can serve as a good bridge between the industry and the academic community of Qom province, adding: The "Industry Companion" plan, as an industrial clinic aimed at providing scientific consulting and solutions to industry-related problems, has been implemented for the first time by this university, which could serve as a suitable model for other universities in the country.
Rezayi Nour stated: In this plan, the teams of Industry Companion, each consisting of one professor and about four students, visit the industrial sites experiencing problems that have been referred to the university by the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade, to assess and diagnose issues and provide necessary solutions to address the related problems.
He continued: This plan is being vigorously pursued in line with student entrepreneurship and employment, and in many cases where the Industry Companion team visits a production unit, the officials of that industrial unit have expressed interest in hiring students from this team, which is among the strengths of this plan.
The President of Qom University of Technology commented: In July 2019, the electronic service desk of Qom University of Technology was launched by the esteemed governor of Qom, and currently, 95% of the university's services are offered electronically and online.
Rezayi Nour emphasized: With the outbreak of the coronavirus and the restrictions on holding in-person classes, Qom University of Technology, due to its suitable electronic infrastructure for providing non-in-person services and conducting virtual classes, was among the first universities in the country that started offering classes virtually and online from the first week of March.
He announced the establishment of an innovation center in Qom province and added: The funding and permission to establish the innovation center in Qom have been obtained, and this center will begin its operations within the next three months at Qom University of Technology, and we hope that by providing educational services, consulting, offering co-working spaces, and attracting investors for knowledge-based ideas nationwide, it will be exemplary.
He added: In addition, this center will engage in activities related to acceleration and will support knowledge-based plans and ideas until they reach high technology levels, commercialization, and profitability. In other words, this center will be the first demand-driven private accelerator in the province.
The President of Qom University of Technology stated: The Startup Empowerment Club (Beta) started its activities last year under the innovation center, providing software services related to acceleration, which is considered one of the honors of this university.
He announced the launch of the SADA (Industry, University, Advancement) system on the Qom University of Technology website and stated: In this system, business owners can register and post job and internship announcements to take advantage of selecting top university talents, and students can enter the system to find out about the best job and internship opportunities and register.
