Qom University of Technology was established in 2008 to develop the industry of Qom province, thanks to its capabilities, including proximity to Tehran and three industrial cities: Isfahan, Saveh, and Arak, as well as having several industrial estates, with the support of Dr. Larijani, the respected chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and other provincial officials. Currently, this university offers 11 fields and specialties at the undergraduate and master's levels (including Polymer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Physics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power, Telecommunications, and Control), and Computer Engineering (Software and Hardware)) with three faculties, over 2,000 students, and 53 faculty members welcoming both local and non-local students.
University Objectives
Qom University of Technology was established with the aim of training and providing a portion of the specialized workforce needed by the province and consequently the country, at high academic levels. The university intends to play a worthy role, befitting the name of the city of the Lady of the Ahl al-Bayt, by being a center that influences the determination of research priorities and scientific directions at the national level, through the presence of experienced professors and talented, creative students.
University Mission
The primary mission of Qom University of Technology is to provide a scientific and dynamic environment for students striving to acquire knowledge and understanding. This will be achieved through the following actions to create an appropriate foundation for their growth and flourishing:
- Enhancing the educational and research system
- Utilizing modern scientific resources
- Having experienced faculty members
- Creating a suitable platform for scientific and research collaborations between the university and industrial centers of the province and the country
- Facilitating student participation in reputable scientific assemblies and entry into the job market
University Structure:
The university consists of two sections: academic and administrative, as detailed below
A: Academic and Educational Section
1- Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering: It includes 5 groups: Power Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Control Engineering, Hardware Computer Engineering, and Software Computer Engineering.
2- Faculty of Technical and Engineering: It includes 4 groups: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Polymer Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
3- Faculty of Basic Sciences: It includes 4 groups: Engineering Physics, Energy Engineering, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
B: Administrative Section
1- Office of the President: It operates with four managements in the cultural, legal, planning, and security sections.
2- Administrative and Financial Deputy: This deputy is responsible for the administrative and financial management activities related to the university's headquarters.
3- Educational and Research Deputy: This deputy is responsible for the educational activities concerning the students, through two managements for education and higher education, and research management.
4- Student Affairs Deputy: This deputy handles the welfare activities related to the students through two managements for student affairs and physical education.
Major Activities Conducted by the University over the Past Year
Acquisition of a 24-hectare definitive land located at kilometer 9 of the Qom-Tehran freeway for the construction of the main university site
Obtaining permission from the 215th Commission of the 5th Development Plan for the university's asset credits
Following up and increasing the university's operating budget
Construction of the Technical and Engineering Faculty in the current building of the university
Drafting a comprehensive ten-year program document for the university
Achieving scientific and research successes by professors and students in various provincial and national festivals and seminars
Achieving a fivefold increase in student enrollment at the master's level
Launching a website for master's students
Implementing over 300 different programs by student groups and supporting them
Improving and enhancing the educational environment of the university
Purchasing and equipping laboratory and workshop supplies for the university
