Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is one of the specialized laboratories in the Mechanical Engineering department and is offered as a mandatory course worth 1 credit for Mechanical Engineering students as part of the core curriculum. The list of experiments that students will become familiar with in this laboratory is as follows:

1-
Hydraulic Table
Experiment objective: measuring flow rate
2-     Osborne Reynolds Experiment
Experiment objective: presenting classical relationships concerning different flow regimes of fluid
3-     Jet Impact Experiment
Experiment objective: investigating the accuracy of theoretical expressions related to forces exerted by water jets on obstacles of various shapes
4-     Bernoulli Experiment
Experiment objective: verifying the Bernoulli equation
5-     Pressure Loss in Piping System
Experiment objective: determining energy loss caused by components of a piping system (such as elbows, valves, sudden changes in pipe cross-section) and examining the relationship between energy loss and velocity. The experiment also investigates changes in the friction factor with Reynolds number, the loss coefficient relative to kinetic energy, and the effect of bend radius on local energy loss.
