Engineering Physics

Engineering Physics Major:

Importance of physics science, with all its breadth and numerous applications, remains unknown in some societies. Industrial advancements owe their progress to the collaboration between physicists and engineers. Engineering physics enables this cooperation. The goal of this major is to prepare graduates who, in addition to understanding physics and advanced topics, are familiar with physics applications and have the engineering ability to design industrial projects in the field of modern physics. Graduates are expected to have ideas to propose or implement industrial plans in the following areas:
Engineering physics has three branches: solid state, plasma, laser and optics.
Required Abilities of Applicants :
Engineering physics is one of the challenging academic fields. The first condition for student success is dedicating all effective time to study and research. A strong foundation in physics and mathematics courses is necessary. Another requirement is having ideas and creativity to solve technical and industrial problems using physics results, such as applying solid-state physics findings in designing electronic and computer components, or using plasma and lasers in the industry.
Graduate Skills and Job Opportunities :
Most precision measuring instruments use physical methods or sensors. Designing and manufacturing these, as well as components used in electronics and computers and the preparation and distribution of properties of nanomaterials in the field of modern physics, along with proposing ideas, designs, and experiments in these and similar areas, are capabilities of engineering physics graduates.
Graduates of this major can work in electronic components industries, optics and laser industries, computer components, governmental and private institutions such as the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications, Atomic Energy, electronics industries, and automobile manufacturing. Additionally, building and analyzing optical fibers used in telecommunications, specializing in various applications of plasma and laser in industry and medicine, designing and manufacturing optical instruments, designing and manufacturing different types of electric discharge lamps, designing and manufacturing magnets required in electromagnetic systems and automatic switches, are essential for the country's industry and fall within the specialization of this major.
