Duties and Responsibilities of the Head of the Department

Communicate the department's operational plans and the general responsibilities of faculty members, including teaching, research, student supervision, and academic service; ensure compliance with professional discipline and regulations; and oversee the proper implementation of these responsibilities.

Prepare the department's educational, research, and service plans in accordance with the policies of the Faculty Council, in consultation with department members before the beginning of each academic semester; prepare the semester course schedule in collaboration with faculty members; and submit it to the Dean of the Faculty.

Supervise all educational, research, and service activities of the department.

Continuously review and update departmental programs in light of the latest scientific advances, developments, and changes, and submit revised programs to the relevant authorities for approval.

Convene and chair Department Council meetings; submit reports, resolutions, recommendations, and the collective opinions of the department to the Dean for executive coordination or legal procedures; and communicate the directives, regulations, and resolutions issued by the Dean.

Propose the department's financial requirements to the Dean.

Conduct all official correspondence on behalf of the department and recommend the procurement of equipment, books, journals, and other resources required by the department to the Dean.

Propose research projects that the department can undertake independently or jointly with other departments to the Dean for approval by the University's Research Council.

Evaluate the annual performance of faculty members and submit the evaluation report to the Dean.

Perform any other duties assigned by the higher authority.
