Duties and Responsibilities of the Head of the Department
To communicate the University's executive plans and the general responsibilities of the faculty members regarding teaching, research, student supervision, and academic services; to ensure compliance with professional standards and work discipline; and to supervise the proper implementation of these responsibilities within the Department.
To prepare the Department's operational plan for educational, research, and service activities in accordance with the policies of the Faculty Council, in consultation with the Department faculty members prior to the beginning of each academic semester; to prepare the semester course schedule in collaboration with the faculty members; and to submit it to the Dean of the Faculty.
To supervise all educational, research, and service activities of the Department.
To continuously review and update the Department's academic programs in light of the latest developments, advancements, and changes, and to submit the revised programs to the relevant authorities for approval.
To convene and chair meetings of the Department Council; to submit reports, resolutions, recommendations, and collective opinions of the Department to the Dean for executive coordination or legal approval; and to communicate the directives, regulations, and resolutions issued by the Dean.
To propose the Department's financial requirements to the Dean of the Faculty.
To conduct all official correspondence on behalf of the Department and to recommend the procurement of equipment, books, journals, and other materials required by the Department to the Dean.
To propose research projects that the Department is capable of conducting independently or jointly with other departments to the Dean for submission to the University's Research Council for approval.
To evaluate the annual performance of the Department's faculty members and submit the evaluation report to the Dean.
To perform any other duties assigned by higher authorities.
