Duties and Responsibilities of the Head of the Department

Communicate the Department's operational plans and the general responsibilities of faculty members in the areas of teaching, research, student supervision, academic services, and professional conduct, and oversee their proper implementation.

Develop the Department's educational, research, and service plans in accordance with the policies approved by the Faculty Council, in consultation with the Department's faculty members prior to the commencement of each academic semester; prepare the semester course schedule in collaboration with the faculty members and submit it to the Dean of the Faculty.

Supervise and coordinate all educational, research, and service activities carried out within the Department.

Continuously review and revise the Department's academic programs in light of the latest scientific advances and educational developments, and submit the revised programs to the relevant authorities for approval.

Convene and chair meetings of the Department Council; submit reports, resolutions, recommendations, and collective views of the Department to the Dean for executive coordination or legal processing; and communicate the circulars, regulations, and resolutions issued by the Dean.

Propose the Department's budgetary and financial requirements to the Dean.

Conduct all official correspondence on behalf of the Department and recommend the procurement of equipment, books, journals, and other resources required by the Department to the Dean.

Propose research projects that the Department is capable of undertaking independently or jointly with other departments to the Dean for consideration and approval by the University Research Council.

Evaluate the annual performance of the Department's faculty members and submit the evaluation report to the Dean.

Perform any other duties assigned by higher authorities.
