Health Regulations for Cafeterias and Buffets

Principles and Health Regulations for Residence in Dormitories

Considering that students, with a proper understanding of their responsibilities in a collective living environment, will be able to strive to resolve many of the health issues in student dormitories in order to provide suitable conditions for living and studying, we kindly request that students observe the following items in the dormitories:

- Cleaning the inside of the rooms is the responsibility of the students themselves. It is necessary to move books and other items in the room and clean underneath and around them at least once every two weeks.
- Food items such as rice, oil, sugar, and tea should be stored in closed containers.
- To prevent the accumulation and proliferation of insects and rodents, strictly avoid scattering waste around the garbage bins and be diligent in maintaining the cleanliness of your dormitory.
- Strictly avoid keeping waste in open containers, especially overnight.
- Students must promptly wash their dirty dishes and avoid keeping unwashed dishes, especially overnight, inside the dormitory.
- Never place food within the reach of cats or other animals, thereby preventing them from being attracted into the dormitory premises.
- Avoid storing any extra items such as foam mattresses, spare wood pieces, and cardboard inside the rooms and around the beds.
- Refrain from keeping empty egg cartons, empty oil cans, etc., for any purpose within the dormitory environment.
- Strictly avoid keeping worn wooden boxes for any purpose, such as shoe racks or book holders, within the dormitory environment.
- The use of electric heaters, electric stoves, and pressure cookers in dormitory rooms is not permitted.
- Students are not allowed to cook in their own rooms and must use the public kitchen for cooking.
- Strictly avoid any disturbance that may disrupt the comfort of dormitory residents (such as making noise or turning up the volume of radios and televisions excessively).
- When students are not using the gas stoves in the kitchen, they must make sure to turn off the flames.
- To prevent clogging of the dormitory wastewater drainage system, refrain from washing your hair in the dormitory sinks.
- Strictly avoid introducing any materials or items that may cause blockages into the wastewater drainage pipes.
- Do not leave water taps open, and prevent dripping by closing them properly.
- To maintain food hygiene, it is essential to store perishable food items in the refrigerator.
- Students should not place more food in the refrigerator than its capacity, so that the refrigerator door can always be closed properly.
- Students should avoid placing eggs with their cardboard cartons inside the refrigerator.
- To prevent contamination from entering the refrigerators, raw items brought from the market (such as fruits and vegetables) should be washed before being stored in the refrigerator.
- Keeping the interior of the refrigerator clean is the responsibility of the students. Therefore, it is necessary to turn off and clean the refrigerator every 15 days.
- When pest control spraying is being carried out in the dormitory, students must store food and utensils in a safe place inside closed cabinets.
- To prevent fungal infections, washed clothes should only be spread out in the sunlight, and hanging clothes in corridors and stairways should be avoided.
- Sheets and blankets should be exposed to sunlight in the open air periodically.
- Bathing items such as washcloths, loofahs, towels, as well as slippers, headscarves, hats, and bedding should be for personal use only. Therefore, students should not use each other's personal items.
- In case of contagious diseases or infestation of the dormitory environment with insects or rodents, students must inform the dormitory supervisor or the female supervisor (matron).
- Strictly avoid smoking in enclosed spaces and inside the dormitory.
- Ventilate the room by leaving the door or window open for several hours a day to exchange the air.

Finally, we hope that you, the students, as "ambassadors of health in student dormitories," will succeed in maintaining and promoting the health level of the student community by observing dormitory hygiene, considering your significant responsibility.
