Mental Health Screening

One of the most important duties of university counseling centers at the beginning of the academic year is to implement the mental health screening program. The Counseling and Lifestyle Center of Qom University of Technology also conducts this program for incoming new students and all dormitory residents, with the aim of assessing social functioning, physical symptoms, anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues.

It is worth noting that, given the necessity of implementing this program for all students across various academic levels and the importance of specialized screening, this program is also carried out for graduate students.

The screening is conducted for students through electronic questionnaires. The collected data are then analyzed, reviewed, and interpreted professionally. In addition to identifying at-risk students, critical cases are invited to the counseling center for therapeutic interventions. Students are also invited to participate in educational workshops and individual or group counseling sessions.

Through the implementation of this program, not only do new students become familiar with the counseling center and its activities, but it also enables the identification of at-risk students and those who exhibit greater vulnerability. Subsequent follow-ups make it possible to place these students under psychological services, thereby preventing potential high-risk behaviors. At the same time, the results can be used in university planning.
