Why is my internet speed slow?
To check your connection speed, you need to consider several issues.
• What is your service? Each subscriber should receive one-eighth of the requested standard service; for example, if the provided service is 128, the download speed should be around 16 kilobytes (16=8÷128). Please note that the stated speeds are maximum, and the typical speed of these services is lower than this amount due to the characteristics of the ADSL technology.
•Another important note is the website from which you are downloading. If the bandwidth of this site is not suitable, you will not be able to download at an appropriate speed. For speed testing, you should use download managers (such as Internet Download Manager) to download from sites like Microsoft.com or download.com. The speed shown in this case represents your actual service speed.
• You can check the SNR MARGIN option in the modem's settings page under Status and ADSL to see your signal-to-noise ratio (this option may be in a different place on various modems). The number displayed in this section should not be less than 20; otherwise, you will experience a decrease in speed.
• If you are one of the several computers using this account, your speed will certainly be lower. (The modem is connected to the network)
• It is possible that your system has been infected with worms and viruses. Check your system with an up-to-date antivirus, anti-hack, and anti-trojan.
• If you are using a wireless modem, connect your computer to the modem using a network cable and test the speed again. There may be a problem with the wireless system and its slowness.
• If you have tried the above steps and found that your service speed is significantly lower than the mentioned values, there may be noise on your line.
