Dear Esteemed Colleague
I am writing to you as the president of Qom University of Technology, Iran, to bring to your urgent attention the dire situation imposed upon the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly our academic and scientific community, due to ongoing attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States.
The Zionist regime has engaged in a systematic campaign of state terrorism, targeting our university professors, innocent civilians, and peaceful nuclear energy scientists. These assassinations are not merely isolated incidents but a deliberate assault on Iran’s intellectual and scientific capital. The loss of these brilliant minds has instilled fear, disrupted academic progress, and hindered our nation’s pursuit of knowledge for peaceful purposes. Such acts of aggression strike at the heart of the global academic community, which we all strive to uphold.
Iran’s nuclear facilities, dedicated to peaceful energy production, operate under the rigorous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Despite this oversight, these facilities have been subjected to unwarranted attacks. The IAEA has consistently affirmed that there is no evidence of military dimensions in Iran’s nuclear program. In its 2015 Final Assessment on Past and Present Outstanding Issues regarding Iran’s Nuclear Program, the IAEA concluded that there were “no credible indications” of activities relevant to the development of a military device. More recently, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has reiterated that there is “no proof” of Iran building a nuclear weapon. These statements underscore the peaceful nature of our nuclear endeavors, yet the Zionist regime and the United States persist in their aggression, undermining international nuclear safety and security.
We urge you to recognize the unlawful nature of these attacks, which contravene the principles of the United Nations Charter, specifically Chapter VII, which addresses threats to international peace and security. The actions of the US and the Zionist regime represent a blatant violation of international law, endangering not only Iran but the stability of the global order. Iran’s countermeasures, in response to these provocations, are legitimate under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which enshrines the inherent right to self-defense. We call upon you to bring public attention to these injustices, amplifying the voices of reason and justice within the international academic community.
It is our collective moral duty to condemn the bully and stand in solidarity with the oppressed. The Zionist regime and the United States, if left unchecked, will not hesitate to extend their aggression to other sovereign, non-reliant nations. This pattern of oppression threatens the fabric of global peace and stability, placing the burden on us—as stewards of knowledge and ethics—to resist such tyranny. By supporting Iran in this struggle, you contribute to a broader stand against those who seek to dominate through force and intimidation.
In closing, I implore you, as leaders of academic institutions worldwide, to raise your voices against these egregious acts and to stand with us in our quest for peace, knowledge, and scientific advancement. Your solidarity can help illuminate the path toward justice and preserve the integrity of the global academic community.
Yours sincerely,
Jaafar Ghanbari
